MUD CHAMPIONS AGAIN AT THE BRITISH PIE AWARDS
We're delighted to say that Mud Foods has triumphed again at the prestigious British Pie Awards as Class Winner in the Vegan Pie category.
The British Pie Awards attracts pie producers large and small from across the land and is hotly contested.
The event is judged in Britain’s 'pie capital', Melton Mowbray, and last year was the subject of a television documentary showcasing the amazing array of pies and their characterful creators!
Mud is only a small artisan bakery in Midhurst, employing 12 craft pie-makers, yet this is the third time in four years that they have won Class Champion, versus overwhelming competition.
Previously, our Vegetarian and Game pies have also received this accolade.
Christian Barrington, Mud’s Founder and Chief Pie Maker, commented “I am very proud of my team. We are all delighted to be recognised at a national level for our taste, in fact, I think this makes it official for us to claim ‘Mud is delicious!’. Respecting the land is the start of all we do. Ask any farmer and they will tell you that great taste starts with good mud. We use local suppliers, sourcing our meat from Goodwood, and we leave our pastry to relax overnight in the old-fashioned way.”
Mud also received a Highly Commended Award for our Chip Shop Chicken Curry pie too in an additional category, and this is another great achievement for one of our more limited editions.
Mud has been selling its pies & squiches on local farmers’ markets for more than ten years and has built up a devoted fan base through word of mouth and recommendation.
Now they are delighted to be gaining wider recognition throughout Hampshire and beyond!
