Since the 1970’s, curry houses have been an integral part of the high street and millions of curries are consumed every week up and down the country. Curry sauce is also a popular side order in many fish and chip shops. In fact, this was the original inspiration for our Chip Shop Chicken Curry Pie, which harks back to Christian’s younger days at his local chippy – but that’s another story!
A celebrity pie
This pie deserves a special mention as, not only did it win Aldi’s Next Big Thing on Channel 4 last October, but it was also Class Champion at the 2021 British Pie Awards. And, just before that great honour, it was featured on ITV’s This Morning with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, in an item about Britain’s top pies. That was Mud’s television debut and a very proud moment! The presenters’ reactions were brilliant – Dermot said our pie was “really good” and Alison described it as “lovely” and “delicious” and later tweeted “it was lush!!”
